Sense and sensibility?

Once again, my mind is in London. Goodness gracious me! I still can't believe that it's happened in and to London.

For the past few hours, I have been checking news websites for updates on the situation. Scores of people are injured - the lucky injured suffer minor cuts and bruises, while the not-so-lucky suffer in serious or critical condition. I've tried contacting Angela but her mobile seems to be off. Just sent her a text message to let me know she's all right. And I just recalled that I don't seem to have Dom's mobile. Think I should send him an email. Gaaahh!! And Yi Tyng is in London!! Must ask Yee Pheng to see if Tyng is OK. (I'm pretty sure she is, actually).

I'm utterly disgusted. I really am. Taking the lives of the innocent, the helpless - this is the one thing I cannot tolerate and will never ever respect. Whatever drives one to commit such an atrocity is something I can never understand. My heart just sinks at the thought of those having to go through such trauma for no reason of theirs.

I suppose this is hitting me real hard because I have people in London and simply because I love that place. Messy, crazy, dirty, old, funky, hip, happening...whatever and however one chooses to describe London. To me, it's one of the best places in the world. I cannot imagine that the places I have walked on have been destroyed by the mind of some lunatic. I see no sense in this at all! Why hurt the innocent?

But I think the leaders and powers that be have made their stand very clear - they will not yield and bow down to nonsense of such. In fact, life goes on and goes on even stronger and better. To yield and to crumble is to give victory to the perpetrators. Such lunatics seek to make prisoners of people in their freedom. By standing up against these lunatics amidst this, and declaring to them that we are marching on, no one has the last laugh.

I cannot comprehend why humans will hurt fellow humans. In the words of Shakespeare:
Hath not a Jew eyes? hath not a Jew hands, organs, dimensions, senses, affections, passions?
Fed with the same food, hurt with the same weapons, subjectto the same diseases, healed by the same means, warmed and cooled by the same winter and summer, as a Christian is?
If you prick us, do we not bleed?if you tickle us, do we not laugh? if you poison us, do we not die? and if you wrong us, shall we not revenge? If we are like you in the rest, we will resemble you in that.
(Merchant of Venice, Act III Sc i)

Nous devons respecter des différences pour nous sommes tous les mêmes - we must all respect differences for we are all the same.

London, I will go back to you one day.
