Too random to be titled

I've always asked why is it that all these hurricanes or other weather systems are named after women. Is it true that there isn't fury like a woman's? Have I ever been so angry before that it left behind some catastrophic effect? Hmmm....

I've been following the news on Hurricane Katrina that's hit Florida, Louisiana & it's now going further north. It's been awful, really. If there's anything I'm grateful for, it is for the fact the Little Red Dot is so shielded from all these forces of nature - typhoons, earthquakes, etc.New Orleans is badly hit. It's sad especially when it's a place with so much history. It used to be Spanish territory until the French got hold of it and named it New Orleans (after Orleans in France). So yes, it was part of the Louisiana Purchase in 1802 between the Americans and the French, where the French sold a huge piece of land stretching from the Gulf coast to the north at the south ofAlberta, Canada. So effectively, that's nearly a quarter of continental USA.

Talk about the Louisiana Purchase, do you know that Barings Bank had a part in this? It helped the Americans in this transaction. Thanks, Mr N Leeson. So much for his futures and 8888 secret account - he destroyed an institution that was so much a part of history. I bet the Queen wants his arse too because she had quite a bit in there as well. That chap actually dropped by Leeds Uni to give a talk. I didn't go (I should have..damn!)..why..I also don't know.

Oohhh!!! Britney Spears comes from Louisiana. Please, spoilt rich star, donate part of your fortune to help in the reconstruction of your state. Put your moola in more worthy causes than spend $10,000 on a t-shirt for your kid. Afterall, your kid probably won't be able to wear it after a few months so might as well channel the money to a better cause.See, I told you. This entry is so random that I don't even know what I'm talking about. I'm becoming so very incoherent. It's time to stop & go to bed.
