Do you eat Panda Buffet?

Panda Buffet. A Chinese restaurant in upstate New York where I had 'Chinese' buffet. Note the inverted commas. Anyone who has been anywhere out of Asia would know that a typical Chinese buffet in a Chinese restaurant includes the following -
  • Onion rings
  • Chips
  • Fried rice & noodle
  • Sweet & sour dish (chicken, pork or fish): sometimes the sauce looks suspisciously 'radioactive', as my brother would say because it's a glowing red/orange sauce
  • Jelly
  • Ice-cream
But I digress. The more interesting thing is the name of the restaurant. Panda Buffet! I should have taken a picture of that but my hunger got the best of me after travelling 4 hours without breakfast or any other food. I mean, who else but Chinese would come up with strange names for restaurants. Just by the name of it, you know that it's a Chinese restaurant. Just take a look at it & you'll get what I mean.

* Bright Diamond * Golden Pheonix * Lucky Dragon * Big Sea (yup!)
* Golden Unicorn * Lucky Jade * Flying Horse * Little China
* Green Bamboo * Dragon City (scary!) * Royal Orchird * Golden City
* Sunlight Eatery * Lucky South * Crystal River * Jade Horse

And the list goes on.....please add on to the list if you see anymore of these interesting names.

I think I saw Golden Dragon in Fremantle once...not Chinese restaurant but a food court with stalls owned by many Chinese!
