My eyes see, my ears hear

One of the observations at the gym again.

1. The Expat Club
The expats hang out together at the gym. Just the other day at Pump class, there was a bunch of German ladies who went to Pump together & another Caucasian lady joined them automatically and no, she wasn't German. In fact, she spoke with a distinct British accent. The other German ladies just looked at her & well, welcomed her into the German club. Then came another Causasian - a man this time & they all spoke in English. Didn't quite hear his accent but the point is this - they all gathered naturally. Although they were strangers (apart from the German club members who have been acquainted earlier), they just came together.

I guess it's natural human behaviour, that we hang out with our own kind as a comfort thing. That explains why there are clubs & societies for a specific group of people to meet. Take for example, back in uni in Leeds. They were clubs/societies that catered to Singaporeans, Malaysians, Taiwanese, HKers, Germans, etc etc. It gives the sense of being 'home' - the familiarity from being with people of the same culture & background is a great sense of comfort & assurance for those far away from home.

P/S: Sorry, SPGs need not consider joining expat club.

2. Macho men (or so they seem)
Good grief! At Combat classes, the men make a hell lot of noise going 'hyaaahhh', 'whoaaah' .. whatever fierce sounds they can make. The even more interesting bit is having them over-exerting with all the energy they have, noise-wise & movement-wise...and looking very silly when their form is a little off. Nothing amuses me more than having some guy exerting, both noise-wise & in his kicks & punches & ermmm.....not able to keep his hips from swinging from side to side as though he was dancing.

'nuff said.
