Confessions on a Dancefloor

I bought it! The new album from Madonna 'Confessions on a Dancefloor'. Madge just never fails to disappoint. I love this one. It has a real disco feel to it. The first single off the album, Hung Up, is doing so well on the charts now. It's at number one on the Britsh charts and has been hanging on to the number one spot on Billboard's Hot Dance/Club Play Chart. Wooo hoooo!!! Way to go, Maddie!!

My favourite songs from the album...it's a difficult choice..let's see:
Track 1: Hung Up
Track 3: Sorry
Track 5: I Love New York (and she actually says "F off!" in the song. I wonder if the censorship board has deliberately cleaned it off or did she really go "F off!" Hmm..)
Track 8: Jump
Track 12: Like It Or Not

Madge is fantastic. I grew up with her, from the days where she had big hair tied up in a ribbon (think Desperately Seeking Susan), to her conical bra & long blonde ponytail (remember her Blonde Ambition Tour?) to the brunette in red robes in Ray of Light to Eva Peron in Evita, to mummy to Lourdes & Rocco & wife to Guy Richie (he's hot!)...at 47, she still ain't stopping.

So you see, this is one important lesson to learn from the Madge. In order to stay competitive & remain on the top, it is so important to reinvent & revamp. She moves with the times, she gets radical & does the most shocking things. I don't really care if she locks lips with Britney or with the Queen (now THAT would be something!), Madge never fails to get attention. It's that attention that gets her on top. Who would forget all the controversy she's caused but that's exactly what she gets - attention. It is no wonder this Queen of Pop has such great staying power. She hasn't faded into nothing. From a penniless dancer with big dreams, her career has spanned two decades, going into its third.

According to the Guiness Book of Records, she's the most successful female solo artist of all time, selling over 200million albums worldwide (and I bought 4 of them!). I can't think of any other female artist that has that kind of power Madge has, nor staying power, for that matter, in the ever-fickle music industry.

Just take a look at the many looks she has adopted over the years. She's a different person everytime. Today, she's Mama Madonna-Mrs Guy Ritchie, deep in the Kabbala faith & a piece of engineering, thanks to yoga. I don't think that Britney will ever reach Madge's level of phenomena despite them having locked lips before..heh! Afterall, it's kids who love Britney & her scandals but it's mature *ahem!* people like you who are reading this who know what a good thing is when you see one, like Madge, for one :)

And you know what, you don't need to be drunk to confess on the dancefloor that Madge is one hellavu power woman. That's because she really is the one & only - Madonna.
